Waje, Nosa, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Timi Dakolo & MI Abaga – PHWBC 2014 Theme Song

Welcoming guests and tourists to the beautiful city of Port Harcourt, the PHWBC 2014 theme song speaks to young people and adults alike of the powers and possibilities available through a reading culture. Drawing from the examples of historical icons in Nigeria like Nnamdi Azikwe, it advises that arming the mind is way profitable than arming hands.
The PHWBC 2014 theme song was written, arranged and produced by ace beatmaker GOSPELONTHEBEATZ and features a unique blend of soul, rap, reggae and R and B on a production that is bound to not only pass across the message: “Books: Windows to our world of possibilities” but also tantalize the ears of listeners.
The World Book Capital initiative aims to promote books and reading especially among young people, and each year, UNESCO makes a public call for candidature, and the city with the best programme on books and reading is nominated as the World Book Capital for a given year. This year, Port Harcourt has beaten ten other contenders including Oxford and Lyon to get the title. For a year from April 23rd (UN World Book & Copyright Day) 2014, the city will implement the programmes contained in its winning bid.
The PHWBC 2014 theme song is now available on the MTN network and can be the used as ring back tune by MTN subscribers by sending 711382 to the number 4100, via sms.
