Nigeria had suffered an early first half loss as a result of Etebo own goal giving Croatia a 1-0 lead.

The Nigerian team didn’t have any shot on target until the 59th minute when Ighalo made a slight header brush to the hands of the goalkeeper.

In the 61st minute, Alex Iwobi was substituted for Ahmed Musa.

Following a foul committed by Nigerian player, a penalty was awarded to the Croatians which Modric converted.

Croatia finally pull through with a 2-0 win in their first match in the 2018 World Cup. This is the first time Croatia will win an opening match in the World Cup since France 98.
